Position Summary:
This entry-level position is for a Sample Preparation Scientist in a CAP-Accredited high-throughput clinical toxicology laboratory. The SPS is responsible for the preparation of urine and oral fluid samples for drug confirmation testing using LC-MS/MS technology. Duties include organizing and processing samples for batched assay testing using robotic liquid handling instrumentation, preparing patient sample dilutions, and submitting batches to LC-MS/MS instrumentation. The SPS may also prepare reagents as needed used during the shift.
Full-time: Monday through Friday, every other Saturday from 4 pm to 12 am.

Minimum Education/Experience: Must meet or exceed the minimum education requirements below:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Science
OR Bachelor's in Biological Science or Chemical Science: Transcripts subject to review. Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares samples for analysis using complex instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers
- Ensures proper handling of patient samples.
- Basic LCMS instrument operations
- Maintains a testing workflow to ensure accurate and timely lab reporting.
- Documents all corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures using good documentation practices.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of all instrument logs and laboratory records.
- Works to build knowledge, understanding, and proficiency of all laboratory instrumentation and maintenance and troubleshooting, including but not limited to robotic handling and LC-MS/MS.
- Assists in performing other duties in the laboratory, when needed.
- Assists in training new employees
- Prepares solutions, reagents, standards, and controls in accordance with the laboratory's documented standard operating procedures.
- Follows all safety, HIPAA and regulatory compliance standards
