Design Southeast Michigan's Future From a Pretty Cool Office
MSG is growing, and we're looking for a motivated Civil Design Engineer with 0-2 years of experience and solid Autodesk Civil 3D skills to join our Detroit, MI office - which, fair warning, has serious industrial character. You'll support engineers and project managers in producing civil/site design plans, reports, and calculations for municipal infrastructure and private development projects across the region - real technical work that builds real skills, not busywork.

Over six months, you'll take part in a hands-on curriculum covering professional development, business acumen, and project delivery - including case studies, simulations, and role-play exercises - covering topics like project economics, communication, and leadership fundamentals. It all wraps up with an in-person capstone event where you'll present your work and map out your goals for the year ahead. Your Future Starts With A Plan.
Develop design drawings and plans using Autodesk Civil 3D, including:
- Site grading
- Alignments and profiles
- Surfaces and corridors
- Utility layouts
- Storm sewer and sanitary sewer networks
Prepare components of engineering packages such as:
- Construction drawings
- Quantities and cost estimates
- Drainage calculations and reports
- Permit submittals
Assist senior engineers and project managers with:
- Technical analysis
- Project coordination
- Quality control reviews
- Scheduling and task planning
- Get out of the office for periodic field visits - site assessments, measurements, and construction support
- Make sure every deliverable meets municipal, county, and state standards
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
- EIT preferredย
- 1-3 years of civil/site design experience - recent grads with strong internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply
- Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D for drafting and basic design
- A solid grasp of civil engineering concepts, including grading, utilities, stormwater, and site layout
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working in a team-oriented environment
