Rosewood Miramar Beach, a Rosewood Hotel, is looking for an exceptional and multi-talented Hotel Engineer I. The Hotel Engineer I is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and general maintenance throughout the hotel property. This entry-level position supports the Engineering Department by ensuring all guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and building systems are maintained in a safe, efficient, and attractive condition. The Hotel Engineer I will work under the direction of the Assistant Director of Engineering and Engineering Operations Manager to provide exceptional service while maintaining the highest standards of facility operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance:
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on hotel equipment, guest rooms, public spaces, and building systems.
  • Inspect and maintain HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, lighting, doors, windows, furniture, and other hotel assets.
  • Complete maintenance work orders in accordance with established departmental procedures.
  • Document maintenance activities and report deficiencies to management.

General Repairs:
  • Respond to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform basic repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, and mechanical equipment.
  • Repair or replace fixtures, hardware, lighting, and minor building components as needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting operational issues affecting hotel facilities and equipment.

Property Maintenance:
  • Maintain guest rooms and public areas to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of hotel facilities and identify maintenance needs.
  • Assist with special projects, renovations, and property improvement initiatives.
  • Support emergency response efforts related to building systems and guest service needs.

Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Report safety concerns, hazards, and equipment malfunctions promptly.

Guest Service:
  • Interact professionally and courteously with guests, team members, and vendors.
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance concerns while maintaining a positive service attitude.
  • Support the hotel's commitment to exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance principles and repair techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as needed.

Preferred:
  • Vocational training, trade school certification, or coursework in maintenance, engineering, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field.
  • Previous hospitality, facilities maintenance, or construction experience.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance schedules, work orders, and technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed throughout the hotel property, including guest rooms, mechanical spaces, rooftops, kitchens, laundry areas, and public spaces.
  • Position requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, climbing ladders, and exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • May be required to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of normal working hours.

The pay scale for this position is between $32.00 and $34.00/hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
