Job description

Quality Control Inspector

This position's primary responsibility is to conduct thorough vehicle inspections in order to ensure vehicle quality standards are maintained. Includes audit of the quality of GLOVIS services such as - under body coat applications, underbody covers install, vehicle processing operations, PIO part installations, load line processes, export processes, body shop repairs, long term vehicle audits, and rail loading.

Department: Vehicle Processing center (VPC)

Reports to: Quality Control Manager

Worksite Location: Onsite, Ellabell, GA 31308

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift (6:30 AM-3:00 PM) (Rotating weekends and overtime may be required) (Schedule is subject to change based on production requirements)

Responsibilities for a Quality Control Inspector:

  • Perform new vehicle audits-Must be able to audit the quality of all GLOVIS services and have the ability to detect minor vehicle issues.
  • Inspect cars using GPQMS Audit App, specialized camera, and/or check sheets.
  • Properly document results of the inspection and take pictures of non-conforming items.
  • Alert Supervisor/Manager of quality concerns immediately.
  • Be truthful in recording results and findings of inspections.
  • Provide feedback to resolve compliance issues.
  • Audit employee compliance with standardized processes, procedures, bulletins, and work instructions.
  • Assist with creating and monitoring corrective actions and countermeasures.
  • Provide input on how to correct known issues within various departments.
  • Assist with the development of audit strategies.
  • Assist with training of new staff on quality inspections.
  • Assist with development and implementation of audit strategies, audit related policies.
  • Notify Supervisor/Manager if units flagged for defects are not repaired in a timely manner.
  • This position is required to fill in where needed, including but not limited to all supporting positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for a Quality Control Inspector:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required
  • Visual acuity allowing the candidate to recognize paint defects, paint runs, buff marks, thin paint, and distinguish matching colors between body panels, fascia, fuel lids and other areas of vehicles
  • Minimum of one year of experience of distribution or warehouse experience, preferably in automotive environment.
  • Must be able to perform basic to moderately difficult mathematical functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averaging, and percentages.
  • Previous experience using scanners and WMS would be preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and recognize when and how to effectively collaborate with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly focused with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Able to work in an indoor/outdoor warehouse environment for 8-hour shifts, and any overtime hours if applicable.

The estimated base hourly rate for the Quality Control Inspector is $21.29 an hour. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
