The primary goal of the Physical Therapist job position is to plan, organize, develop, and provide Physical Therapy Services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Essential Functions
· Provide physical therapy services to residents and initiates referrals when appropriate and in accordance with Therapy Department Procedures.
· Conduct screenings of residents at regular intervals to determine need for intervention/treatment.
· Evaluate residents to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation and conducts specialized evaluations as indicated.
· Interpret and communicate evaluation findings to residents, families, and team members.
· Establish individual resident schedules in conjunction with other team members.
· Develop treatment plans by identifying a target list, including short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
· Implement and conduct treatment as outlined in treatment plan.
· Develop appropriate home or programming within the community to maintain and enhance the performance of the resident in their own environment.
· Supervise and directs Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA) in the implementation of the treatment plan.
· Review the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and individual physical therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, using predetermined criteria.
· Consistently demonstrate sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of resident therapy programs.
· Report to work on time and coordinates schedule to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during assigned shift.
· Assist with and participates in Quality Assurance Program as required.
· Maintain a current knowledge of the law and regulations regarding rehabilitative services and consults with supervisor to ensure that all employment actions are in compliance with applicable regulations.
· Ensure a safe environment and utilizes tools and equipment in a safe manner complying with all infection control, universal precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
· Adhere to all policies of company, including job description, certification requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standards and resident’s rights.
· Adapt to changes in responsibility in a positive manner, is receptive to new ways of completing tasks and in flexible in carrying out assignments.
