Job description

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Qualifications:GS-11
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Thorough knowledge and experienced with a variety shipbuilding activities such as nondestructive testing, coatings, mechanical, shipboard electrical cableway installation and inspection.
  • Thorough Knowledge and ability in reviewing, interpreting and applying plans, blueprints, drawings, specifications, directives, policy statements, technical instructions and standards in all aspects of quality control, quality assurance and in industrial disciplines associated with ship construction, conversion and repair.
  • Knowledge to communicate orally and in writing with engineers, technicians, ship's officers, Contractor's officials, all SUPSHIP Departments, and other Government officials on a wide variety of subjects including quality, technical and policy.
  • Ability to generate and maintain reports, graphs, charts and records.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulation and requirements.
  • Adeptness in reviewing and auditing the Contractor's procedures in the shipbuilding disciplines with skill in recognizing the adequacy or the need for additions or changes.
  • Thorough knowledge of Quality Assurance Department policies, procedures and Philosophy.
  • Knowledge and skill in planning, quality control, inspection principles practices and techniques.
GS-09
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Knowledge of the shipbuilding disciplines including: ship-fitting, hull fabrication, weight handling systems and equipment, fueling at sea and replenishment at sea equipment and systems, outfitting, ventilation, damage control systems and paint systems.
  • General knowledge of industrial disciplines associated with shipbuilding including electrical, electronic, (machinery and piping) and metal joining processes.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
  • Functional knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and philosophy including statistics.
  • Functional knowledge of measuring and test equipment.
