Position Description
Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Department: Quality Assurance
Immediate Supervisor: Quality Assurance Manager
Status: Non-Exempt Hourly
Position Purpose: Quality Assurance Technicians are responsible for the testing and documentation of test results to confirm that materials and products meet the required specifications. They work closely with operating personnel to ensure nonconforming products are identified and corrective actions are taken.
Principle Accountabilities
  • Collects, approves, and files the Certificate of Analysis for incoming raw materials.
  • Maintain daily safety regulations, procedures, and housekeeping.
  • Qualified to operate all testing equipment in the lab.
  • Performs and documents the testing of products from the mixing area.
  • Performs and documents the in-process testing of TB's and jumbos from the coating area.
  • Performs and documents slit tape inspections in the converting area.
  • Keeps operators and shift leaders informed of any non-conformances found.
  • Ensures hold tags are filled out and attached to non-conforming materials or products.
  • Performs and documents aged, finished tape testing.
  • Provides test results to the MRB of material returned by customers for credit or replacement.
  • Calibrates test equipment at proper intervals. Sends equipment to external source for calibration if it cannot be calibrated internally. Keeps calibration records up to date.
  • Maintains and updates the Quality Manual, Level 2 Procedure Documents, and appropriate ISO work instructions.
  • Participates as a member of the MRB as required.
  • Provides and maintains test data from trial runs.
  • Performs all other functions assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • High school graduate with strong math, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Good organizational and inter-personal skills.
  • Previous manufacturing or laboratory experience desired.
  • Good understanding of metric and English measures.
  • Ability and willingness to work with others as a team member.
  • Maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Able to stand a majority of the shift.
  • Must be able to work any shift required, including overtime.
