Project Engineer Technician :
The Product Engineering Technician is responsible for providing operational and technical support to the Product Engineering team. Their primary goal is to execute diagnostic procedures, perform initial triage of complex failures in Costumer systems, and ensure data integrity for root cause analysis. They act as the first level of engineering for hardware problem resolution on the floor, following methodologies established by the PE Engineer and HQ.
Key Responsibilities:
· Diagnostic Execution: Execute TSG for L10/L11 failures (PCIe, sensors, FW) using Linux tools (nitro-bmc, coap) and component swapping.
· Engineering Support: Perform DOEs, error injections, and data collection for FPY analysis.
· Perform 5S in the work area, Perform inventory of the tools and equipment.
· Process Improvement: Implement Kaizen projects (2/month) and manage unit inventory/debug time limits.
· Firmware & Config: Execute FW updates (KEG Push), FRU recovery, VPD, and switch configurations to restore connectivity.
· Documentation: Log detailed findings in WTS and collaborate with PE/TE/FA teams on escalations.
· Hardware & Tools:
· Serial Console/SSH: Access to units for debugging.
· Network Switches (Celestica): Port configuration for connectivity tests.
· Multimeter: Basic voltage verification on test points if required by the TSG.
· Assembly Tools: For safe replacement of components.
· Perform DOE and error injection for failure analysis.
Minimum Requirements:
· Technical degree or career in progress in Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
· 3 years of experience or related roles.
· Additional certifications in hardware diagnostics, Linux, networking, or server systems are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Familiarity with server platforms and systems integration.
· Basic understanding of networking, switches, VLANs, or port configuration.
· Previous experience in testing, production, or technical support environments.
· Introductory knowledge of Python for simple log handling or data extraction.
· Experience with ticketing or tracking systems.
· Entry-level technical certifications (Linux Essentials).
Skills:
Technical Skills
· Hardware & Systems: Server Components, PCIe Structure, Platform Behavior, FRU/VPD.
· Debugging Tools: Linux CLI (dmesg, lspci, systemctl), Log Analysis (SEL, SDR, ME).
· Programming: Python (Basic Automation & Parsing).
· Operations: TSG Execution, Firmware Updates (KEG Push), Rack Handling & Safety.
