Job description

Purpose:

This role focuses on quality improvement by investigating root causes of warranty return parts, preparing reports, presenting findings to Customers, and monitoring and analyzing claim data and trends to help reduce warranty costs.

Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Perform warranty parts investigations with Suppliers, G1 Plant Members, and Engineering Teams through the JIRA system.
  • Leverage Performance Test Stands to analyze steering gear performance features.
  • Utilize Power Pack Dyno Tester to evaluate performance of motor.
  • Adopt High Frequency Digital Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, for testing and debugging.
  • Use CT machines to perform high-precision inspections, analyze internal structures, and ensure product quality through advanced imaging techniques.
  • Monitor claim trends and identify specific failure modes to proactively address quality issues.
  • Prepare investigation reports and update them as the investigation progresses.
  • Review and approve warranty invoices, and process them in accordance with internal company procedures.
  • Generate monthly reports for upper management by analyzing warranty trends, costs, and investigation updates, and record findings in the HL Mando QMS.
  • Address Customer needs via the customer portal and facilitate warranty meetings to ensure satisfaction.
  • Initiate non-conforming reports (NCRs) of warranty return part and drive NCRs to closure.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience in quality field, product validation, or development within electrical/electronic or mechanical systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with OEM cost recovery, including claim validation, negotiation, and resolution of warranty claims and field actions/
  • Entry-level candidates with relevant academic or internship experience are welcome.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Familiarity with the following tools and concepts is preferred, but not required:

  • Analytical expertise in resolving quality issues using FMEA, 8D, and FTA, while driving corrective actions for compliance.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality management systems and practices.
  • Working familiarity with Python and RPA, with ability to apply them to simple tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of SPC concepts and control charts for process monitoring.
  • Proficiency in QMS audit techniques, conducting audits of processes and documentation with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to interpret circuit diagrams and PCB layouts for warranty part analysis and root cause identification.
  • Proficiency in Vector CAN tools (CANape, CANoe, and CANalyzer).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and results-driven, with the ability to drive issues to closure effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships that support satisfaction.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.


Supervisory Responsibility: None

Working Conditions:

  • This position typically operates in an office/lab environment. Occasional travel within the US and abroad as required (Canada/Korea).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to carry and move steering gear up to 35 lb.
