Job Description

As a AI Compiler Engineer on the Renesas HPC team, you will work on compiler and codegeneration technologies that enable AI workloads to run efficiently on nextgeneration automotive SystemonChip (SoC) platforms. You will contribute to software that translates AI models into optimized execution for advanced automotive hardware used in softwaredefined vehicles (SDVs).

This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about compilers, systems software, and AI acceleration, and who want handson experience working at the intersection of software and hardware in a realworld, safetycritical domain.

You will work closely with experienced compiler engineers, hardware architects, and AI specialists, learning how productiongrade AI compilers are built and optimized for automotive use cases.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to AI compiler development, including model ingestion, graph transformations, and code generation under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Implement and test compiler optimizations such as operator fusion, scheduling improvements, and memory optimizations
  • Assist in performance analysis and benchmarking of AI workloads on simulators and silicon platforms
  • Work with senior team members to debug correctness and performance issues in compiler pipelines
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (SoC architecture, AI software, systems) to understand hardware constraints and software requirements
  • Write clean, welltested code and documentation following engineering best practices
  • Learn automotive software requirements such as determinism, reliability, and quality standards
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or graduating soon) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
    • Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, and computer architecture
    • Solid programming skills in C/C++ and/or Python
    • Coursework, projects, or internships related to compilers, systems programming, or machine learning
    • Familiarity with at least one of the following through coursework or projects:
      • Compiler frameworks (LLVM, MLIR, TVM, or similar)
      • Machine learning or AI inference concepts
      • Lowlevel performance optimization or parallel programming
    • Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills

    Nice to Have (Not Required)

    • Academic or personal projects involving compilers, code generation, or ML systems
    • Exposure to AI models such as CNNs or transformers
    • Understanding of heterogeneous systems (CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP)
