Job description

Davidson is a distinguished leader in the aerospace and missile defense industry, renowned for its commitment to excellence in hiring exceptional experts, engineers, and software developers. The company is dedicated to delivering advanced, intelligent technology solutions that safeguard national security and defend against emerging threats worldwide.
As an Algorithms Analysis Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development, evaluation, and enhancement of specialized combat systems designed to improve tracking, prediction, and discrimination capabilities for emerging threats worldwide. This position requires a blend of deep technical expertise, analytical thinking, and clear communication skills. You will be responsible for analyzing complex algorithm performance, diagnosing issues, developing tools to streamline analysis, and presenting findings to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability and effectiveness of mission-critical defense technologies.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Performance Analysis of Missile Tracking and Prediction Algorithms: Conduct rigorous evaluation of algorithms designed to track and predict the trajectories of ballistic missiles, hypersonic vehicles, and other aerial threats. You will assess accuracy, latency, robustness under various conditions, and compliance with system requirements. This involves running simulations, interpreting results, and identifying areas for improvement to ensure optimal performance in real-world scenarios.
  • Analysis of Space-Based Sensor Constellations: Examine data from sensor systems to evaluate their effectiveness in detecting and characterizing threats. You will analyze sensor coverage, revisit rates, signal-to-noise ratios, and fusion algorithms to maximize situational awareness and early warning and defense capabilities. This includes assessing how sensor data integrates with ground and airborne systems for a layered defense approach.
  • Algorithm Defect Tracking and Resolution: Identify, document, and track defects or anomalies in algorithm behavior using structured methodologies. Collaborate with software developers and systems engineers to identify root-cause issues, implement fixes, and verify corrections. You will maintain defect databases, prioritize issues based on impact, and ensure timely resolution to maintain system integrity and performance benchmarks.
  • Analysis Tool Development (Python & MATLAB): Design, develop, and maintain custom analysis tools and scripts in Python and MATLAB to automate data processing, visualization, and performance metrics calculation. These tools will enable efficient evaluation of large datasets from simulations and live tests. You will ensure tools are well-documented, user-friendly, and integrated into broader engineering workflows to enhance team productivity.
  • Technical Presentations and Analysis Reports: Prepare clear, concise, and technically accurate reports, slide decks, and briefings for internal reviews, program milestones, and customer deliverables. You will translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights for engineers, program managers, and senior leadership. Effective storytelling with data is essential to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Team Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineers across disciplines-including software, systems, hardware, and test teams-to ensure alignment on requirements, design, and validation. You will facilitate technical discussions, clarify complex concepts, and adapt your communication style to suit diverse audiences, from entry-level engineers to senior executives and customer representatives.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in algorithm analysis, simulation modeling, or performance evaluation within defense, aerospace, or similar high-technology industries
  • Strong proficiency in Python and MATLAB/Simulink for data analysis, algorithm development, and tool creation.
  • Solid understanding of missile defense systems, tracking algorithms (e.g., Kalman filters, predictive filters), and signal processing techniques.
  • Experience with simulation environments (e.g., STK, AGI, custom simulators) and familiarity with space-based sensor phenomenology as integrated in a hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to produce technical reports and present findings clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with machine learning techniques applied to sensor data or pattern recognition in defense contexts.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ for understanding algorithm implementations or integrating analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, IBM Rational Rhapsody), and collaboration platforms (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence)
  • Background in wargaming, operational analysis, or threat evaluation methodologies.
  • Prior experience working on Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Air Force, Navy, or Army missile defense programs.
  • Professional certifications in systems engineering (e.g., INCOSE ASEP/CSEP) or related disciplines.
  • Familiar with Linux-based environments

Clearance:
  • Must have a Secret Security Clearance or higher
