As the Junior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will support the build‑out of agent‑driven triage and response automation, working under the direction of Senior Cybersecurity Engineer(s).

Job Description

CAI is hiring! We are looking for a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer for a 12-month+ contract opportunity that is onsite in Long Beach, CA. The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer supports the build‑out of agent‑driven triage and response automation, working under the direction of Senior Cybersecurity Engineer(s).

What You’ll Do
  • Support the build‑out of agent‑driven triage and response automation under the direction of the Senior Security Engineers
  • Implement, test, and iterate on automation workflows and playbooks that take detection content and turn it into consistent triage and response actions
  • Write and maintain the integration code connecting automation workflows to the security stack (SIEM, EDR, and related tooling) that Eng operates
  • Help instrument and monitor automation performance in production such catching false positives, missed cases, and brittle logic before they become operational problems
  • Document workflow logic, decision points, and known limitations clearly enough that senior engineers and analysts can all reason about what the automation is actually doing
  • Work alongside Cyber Analysts to understand real triage patterns before automating them
Required What You’ll Need
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals and comfort writing and debugging production code, ideally including Python/Go a similar scripting‑friendly language
  • Comfort with APIs, workflow/automation frameworks, and the general shape of integrating disparate systems
  • Some exposure to SOC concepts, log/alert data, or prior coursework/projects touching security operations
  • Genuine interest in security operations considered entry level engineer with a real desire to build one
  • Ability to work well under senior technical direction: this is a build‑and‑learn seat, not a solo one
  • Clear written communication

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Sedentary work involving sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
