Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification\r\nexists is to disseminate information from an assigned department to the media,\r\nconstituents, community groups, the public, and department employees. Currently, positions for the Marketing and\r\nPublic Relations Manager classification exist at the Department of Cultural\r\nAffairs, Museum of Fine Arts and the Montgomery Zoo. The primary work responsibilities\r\nare: manages the department's marketing and public relations outreach programs\r\nthrough traditional media outlets; manages the department's social media\r\nmarketing and public relations outreach programs; oversees the creation,\r\nproduction, and distribution of marketing and public relations materials; develops\r\nand executes short- and long-term marketing and public relation strategies; coordinates\r\nor assists in coordinating special events and programs; and performs\r\nadministrative duties such as budgeting, networking, and volunteer management. The\r\nMarketing and Public Relations Managers reports to the Director and/or\r\nAssistant Director of their assigned department.\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with major\r\ncourse work in journalism, communications, public affairs, marketing, or a\r\nrelated field and two (2) years of experience in the field of public affairs,\r\npublic relations, public and internal information, journalism, communications,\r\nor marketing.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience\r\nthat provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job\r\nwill be considered.\r\n\r\n

Special Requirements

Work on holidays, nights, and weekends may be\r\nrequired dependent upon the location's hours of operation and special\r\nevents. Additionally, overtime may be\r\nrequired for special events.\r\n
