Job description

W.M. Schlosser Company, Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level Project Engineer to support our project teams with day-to-day coordination, documentation, and field support from preconstruction through project closeout.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn construction operations under the guidance of experienced Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers. The Project Engineer will play an important role in helping ensure project activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with project specifications.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the project team with:

  • Maintaining organized project documentation, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, correspondence, meeting minutes, and closeout records
  • Assisting with coordination among vendors, subcontractors, designers, consultants, and internal project stakeholders
  • Preparing, tracking, and distributing RFIs, submittals, design updates, and project correspondence
  • Supporting short-interval planning, lookahead schedules, procurement tracking, delivery commitments, and action-item follow-up
  • Assisting with basic takeoffs, scope reviews, quote comparisons, change logs, cost tracking, invoice review, and backup documentation
  • Supporting buyout, procurement, subcontractor compliance tracking, purchase order/subcontract documentation, and closeout deliverables
  • Participating in safety meetings, reporting hazards or incidents, assisting with inspections/testing, and tracking punch list items or deficiencies


What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Willingness to learn how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Ability to follow project management and document control processes for RFIs, submittals, drawings, meeting minutes, and closeout documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Willingness to learn project software such as Procore and P6
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, time management, and follow-through
  • A dependable, punctual, team-oriented, and professional approach


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent construction field experience
  • Basic familiarity with construction principles, terminology, and jobsite safety practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with project software such as Procore and P6
