Job description

Title:

Project Engineer

Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices in engineering and project management. Uses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes. Displays core competencies by analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures. Performs assignments requiring experience and knowledge of standard concepts within engineering and design.

This position is located at a client site in Dayton, OH. Work will be performed on site, with schedule flexibility for remote work opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technical leadership of a project, typically up to $500K, within the programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and customer.

  • Defines, generates, and reviews project requirements documentation.

  • Performs technical studies to refine project requirements.

  • Monitors project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.

  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.

  • May conduct performance/project analyses during phase-down to benefit future/other projects/missions/programs.

  • Incumbents have experience as engineers before moving into this project role

  • Performs routine assignments in the entry level to a professional job progression.

  • Develops competence by performing structured work assignments.

  • Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems.

  • Receives instruction, guidance and direction from others.

  • Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices and procedures within a discipline.

  • Applies general knowledge of industry developed through education or past experience.

  • No mentoring or advisory responsibilities; accountable for developing own technical contribution.

  • Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering discipline preferred

  • 2-5 years project engineering experience required. Small project cost control and support preferred.

  • Must be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft office products

  • Strong business and analytical acumen.

  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to achieve results in interdisciplinary environment.

Physical Qualifications

  • Work is located at a working client site:

  • Requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes

  • Extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.

  • Some lifting may be required, up to 20lbs

  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).

  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, hearing and eye protection, steel-toed boots, etc.)

  • Day-to-day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively
