Pay Rate: $27.94/hr plus $0.50 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd
Shift: 2nd or 3rd - must be able to work either

While reporting to the Production Shift Supervisor, as the Production Worker,you will be responsible for operating a palletizer, performing various tasks with your work team on a production line and ensuring the production of a quality product in a safe working environment. You will also be collaborating and contributing to the production environment within our manufacturing operations. We are expanding! We are seeking entry level production employees to join our plant team as we grow our business. Sonoco Products is a global packaging company with over 20,500 employees in 300+ locations worldwide. The West Chicago plant manufactures Rigid Paper Containers utilized in food packaging for powdered beverages, nuts, snacks, etc. The plant normally operates a 24x5 (3) shift schedule.
What you'll be doing:
  • Inspecting and palletizing composite paper cans, placing divider sheets between layers, positioning pallet tags where required and moving top frames onto completed pallets
  • Working in a team environment committed to the long term success of plant operations. (Our West Chicago plant has been in operation for over 40 years!)
  • Be an active participant in the plant safety process and contribute ideas to continuously improve operations.
  • Have a strong commitment to ensure product quality and communicate quality performance information to your production work team.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and data entry for the duties of the Production Associate
  • You will need to able to perform repetitive duties, including going up and down stairs and standing for long periods of time.
  • You will need to be able to lift up to 25 lbs.as needed.
  • You will need to have the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to work outside of regular shift hours including weekends if production or customer demands require it.
