Job description

About AlphaGraphics Downtown Austin
AlphaGraphics Downtown Austin is a locally owned, premier marketing, digital print, and sign graphics shop. We are part of an interconnected family of four Central Texas AlphaGraphics locations, combining the high-agility, friendly feel of a close-knit print shop with the resources, technological backing, and career stability of a strong regional network. We pride ourselves on delivering top-tier print, signage, and marketing solutions to Austin businesses with exceptional speed and customer care.
Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, proactive, and versatile Sales & Production Assistant to join our Downtown Austin team. This dynamic, entry-level hybrid position acts as a crucial bridge between our Inside Sales team and our Large Format / Digital Print Production department. The workflow is anticipated to be split roughly 50/50 between sales support and hands-on print production, though daily responsibilities will naturally adapt based on shop volume, customer deadlines, and project priorities.
If you love engaging with people, possess strong organizational skills, and are excited to roll up your sleeves to learn the fast-paced world of digital print and large format sign manufacturing, this is the perfect launching pad for your career!
Key Responsibilities
Inside Sales & Customer Support (approx. 50%):
  • Client Relations: Greet incoming clients, answer multi-line phone calls with enthusiasm, and direct inquiries efficiently.
  • Quote & Order Handling: Intake customer job details, generate accurate project quotes, and process incoming print orders in our estimating system.
  • Sales Team Support: Assist senior inside and outside sales reps with quote preparation, order tracking, customer proof approvals, and client follow-ups.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication via email and phone regarding project timelines and job statuses.
  • Front-Desk Management: Handle customer order pick-ups and process payments cleanly and accurately.

Print Production & Technical Support (approx. 50%):
  • Equipment Operation: Learn to operate high-speed digital presses, wide-format roll printers, and flatbed printing equipment.
  • Finishing & Assembly: Train and assist in print finishing operations, including trimming, mounting, laminating, binding, grommeting, and vinyl weeding/application.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect finished jobs for color accuracy, resolution, size specifications, and overall quality prior to customer delivery.
  • Shop Maintenance: Assist with shop inventory management, stock organization, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
  • Team Workflow: Collaborate closely with production leadership to ensure high-priority deadlines are met seamlessly.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: Prior experience in customer service, retail, or sales support preferred; a genuine desire to learn the print and sign industry is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with comfort speaking with clients both over the phone and face-to-face.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with basic computer systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and aptitude to quickly learn specialized print estimating software.
  • Organization: Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: A positive, proactive team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and steps up wherever needed.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or relevant college coursework is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently lift and move print materials, paper stocks, and signage supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable moving fluidly between seated desk work (answering calls, typing) and active shop floor production (standing, bending, lifting, walking).
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods during high-volume production cycles.

Compensation & Benefits
AlphaGraphics Downtown Austin offers a highly competitive compensation package tailored to the Central Texas market:
  • Hourly Rate: Competitive starting pay ranging from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and skills.
  • Healthcare Coverage: Company subsidized Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance plans.
  • Paid Time Off: Accrued PTO, company holidays, and birthday
  • Retirement Plan: 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with company match.
  • Training & Growth: Comprehensive hands-on training across both digital sales tools and state-of-the-art print equipment.

Why Join Us? Team Culture & Career Growth
When you join AlphaGraphics Downtown Austin, you are not just taking a job-you are joining a close-knit team backed by four premier Central Texas locations. We believe in investing in our employees from day one. Because our business spans both sales and advanced manufacturing, this hybrid entry-level role provides unmatched exposure to every facet of the graphic communications industry.
For the right candidate who demonstrates dedication, strong work ethic, and a passion for learning, clear pathways for long-term career advancement exist-including opportunities to transition into Senior Inside Sales, Account Management, Estimating, Production Management, or Large Format Graphics Specialist roles across our Central Texas network.
The employer posting this position, evaluating potential candidates and making all hiring decisions is an independently owned and operated AlphaGraphics, Inc. franchisee. If hired, Franchisee will be your employer, not AlphaGraphics, Inc. or any of its affiliates or any other franchisees.
