This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of ahardworking team ofengineers,you willwork with various subsystem stakeholders to produce and manage the software architectureforthe Blue Transporterspacecraftwithin the Lunar Permanence business unit. Youand yourteammateswill be tasked with ensuring mission success of the lunar vehicles'safety-critical, performant flight software. You will proactively engage withthe leads and engineersof different subsystems, including both software and hardware.You willguide the software team's technical decisions using the input ofa set of stakeholders and provide the rationale behind these decisions.You will draft, review, revise, and publish documents that outline these decisions and provide a credibleplan for implementing flight software that completes the Lunar Permanence missionobjectives.You willreport to theFlight Software Integrated Product Lead.A strong applicant willdemonstratean ability to understand theneeds ofourstakeholders andsimultaneouslyrepresent the capabilities ofourFlight Software team well.This attribute is particularly important to ensure thatour team avoidsover-promising and under-delivering.

Youwill work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.Youwill play a key role indeveloping the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon andextendhuman presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering,aeronautics,or a related field with a minimum of6years of relevant experience, oramaster'sdegreeor a PhD degreewith a minimum of3years of relevant experience

  • Priorexperience working in spaceflight or other safety-criticalindustries

  • Priorexperienceinembedded systemssoftware engineering

  • Proficiencyinwriting requirements and usingJamaorasimilartool

  • Experience with Jira or a similar activity management tool

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

  • Prior experience usingGenerative AI tools for programming and process improvement

Desired:

  • Experience with NPR 7150, DO-178,or other similar standards

  • Experience withthe agilemethodology

  • Experience with C, C++, Rust, or other embedded programming languages

  • Experience with cFS or other flight software frameworks

  • Experience withorbital vehicles or in-space systems


Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $150,931.00 - $211,303.05 WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
