Job description

Job Summary:
Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. They are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate to fill the role of Advanced Semiconductor Packaging Field Applications Engineer (level III, IV, or V), responsible for providing on-site technical support, process optimization, and product integration expertise while working closely with customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
• Support customer evaluations by assisting in the preparation, execution, and data collection of lab and fab trials involving semiconductor process materials. Learn customer needs for process, materials, and equipment support.
• Operate and maintain application equipment (e.g., spin coaters, hot plates, ellipsometers, bonder/debonder) to replicate customer processes and support internal testing needs.
• Maintain awareness of company lab capabilities and assist in coordination of support resources needed for sample prep or customer demos.
• Record and document detailed experimental procedures, test parameters, and results for internal tracking and knowledge sharing.
• Analyze experimental and production data using statistical tools and communicate findings to senior engineers and internal teams.
• Assist in creating application procedures, user guides, and technical documentation for internal use and external distribution.
• Provide limited on-site support to customers under guidance, such as participating in basic troubleshooting or monitoring early-stage product evaluations.
• Contribute to the preparation of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) discussions by collecting and documenting relevant risks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, quality engineering, manufacturing) in structured problem solving by relaying initial observations and customer feedback.
• Participate in safety, quality, and procedural training to gain familiarity with semiconductor industry standards and cleanroom protocols.
• Conduct on-site support during product trials, assisting with installation, calibration, and evaluation of chemical products in customer fab environments.
• Learn and anticipate customer process needs through direct communication and data review; propose process solutions based on observations and experience.
• Independently run experiments and lab simulations that replicate customer fab environments, helping guide internal development and demonstrating material advantages.
• Collaborate with factory applications engineering in the design and execution of internal testing and customer demonstrations
• Build customer trust by delivering technical training and demonstrations that highlight unique capabilities and competitive advantages.
• Own specific tool sets or process areas at customer accounts and be responsible for monitoring and maintaining consistent performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot product integration issues and escalate complex problems with well-documented findings to internal R&D or engineering teams.
• Support new product introductions by preparing qualification plans, running comparative data analyses, and providing real-time feedback to customers and product teams.
• Create customer-facing documentation, including application notes, best-practice guidelines, and field service reports.

• Serve as the primary technical contact for multiple customer accounts, independently managing on-site evaluations, process audits, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Lead and execute complex product trials, working across customer fabs and internal teams to define success metrics and timelines.
• Troubleshoot integration problems, yield challenges, or reliability issues in customer fabs.
• Coordinate technical support across internal teams including R&D, quality engineering, factory applications engineering, and manufacturing
• Perform in-depth root cause analyses on product or process deviations using data from multiple tools and inspection techniques (e.g., SEM, defect review, metrology).
• Actively participate in customer meetings, presenting technical findings, performance benchmarks, and proposed solutions or optimizations.
• Support sales and product management by participating in technical discussions, road mapping sessions, and technology assessments.
• Continuously relay insights from the field to R&D, product management, and operations teams, helping the organization stay ahead of emerging customer and industry trends.
• Mentor entry-level and junior engineers in both lab-based skills and field-based customer engagement practices.
• Generate internal technical reports and contribute to conference presentations or whitepapers where appropriate.
• Initiate and lead FMEA and technical risk assessments for new customer engagements or product rollouts; ensure that potential issues are preemptively addressed.
