Job description

Shadowing (Observation Only) Summary
This is an unpaid experience. The Dental student or Pre-Dental student will have the opportunity to shadow the Whitman-Walker Dental Services department, which includes, dental providers providing dental care services to adults and adolescents experiencing oral care needs, in an integrated care, community health center, and who provide direct services to patient consumers of the health center in the form of oral evaluations, intraoral and extra oral hard and soft tissue examinations, treatment planning, comprehensive dental treatment and education along with the oral health clinical team.
Shadowing (Observation Only) Consists Of:
  • Shadow/Observe Whitman-Walker dental providers in the coordination of delivering dental services, including oral evaluation, documentation of evaluation and client treatment (including exams, x-rays cleanings, and other restorative, surgical, fixed, and removable prosthetic services), prescription of appropriate medications as needed, and dental education as it pertains to the standards of dental care.
  • Shadow/Observe Whitman-Walker dental providers maintain accurate patient records and chart documentation in electronic medical records to assist in administrative purposes and reimbursement of services.
  • Shadow/Observe Whitman-Walker dental providers maintain a respectful, non-judgmental,l and compassionate manner with patients, clients, and staff.

Eligibility:
Current dental student in an accredited U.S. Dental School or pre-dental student in college
