CNC Machinist Job Description
Summary/Objective
R-Tech Tool & Machine is hiring experienced CNC Machinist to work with our outstanding team of professionals. Your role will be to set-up and operate production machines, requiring complex alignments, adjustment, and compatibility of tooling. A degree of problem solving to determine machine is functioning properly and tooling is installed correctly. Inspect parts against engineering prints to ensure tolerances have been maintained and promote world class precision. Responsible for a solid rate of proficiency, cleanliness, and organization of work area. Proven ability to maintain a positive attitude and good work ethic.
Essential Functions
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner and complies with company policies.
  • Determine the uses of personal protective equipment (PPE); identify the safety equipment and procedures related to safe work practices and surrounding environment.
  • Able to run and complete parts using the MRP Network.
  • Use the MRP system to clock in and out of jobs upon set-up and completion.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Maintaining and filling out of quality sheets to verify part tolerances.
  • Knowledge of Basic Machine Shop Vocabulary.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency and allowed time standards.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and dial calipers.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
  • Align and secure work-holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Conduct job hazard analysis for conventional mills and lathes, develop math skills for machine tool operation, and perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping on conventional mills and lathes, select work holding devices for mills, lathes and other machine tools.
  • Calculate tool feed and speeds, remove material using milling and turning processes, align milling head, use a manual and CNC Mill or Lathe to center drill, drill and ream holes, change tools and tool holders on milling machines, and maintain tool life for job production. May perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications
  • Effectively be able to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Able to run and complete parts using the MRP Network.
  • Be proficient in mathematics including add, subtract, divide and multiply all units of measure, including fractions, whole numbers, decimals and percentages.
  • Be proficient Excel programs.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. And be able to solve problems and deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
  • Able to notice what work needs to be done and establish a time frame of how much time will be required to complete it.
  • Works with power driven equipment.
  • Works with costly metals where possibility of damage or scrap is high.
  • Close attention and care is required to prevent damage to complex machine tools.
  • High mental and visual effort required.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Two years related experience and / or training or an equivalent combination of education and training and experience.
