Job description

Position: Field Construction Engineer I Location: Muleshoe, TX – Onsite 5/days per week Contract Duration: 12-Months Hourly Pay Rate: $41/hr. Per Diem: $178/day – 7/days per week System One is seeking a Field Construction Engineer to support two single-cycle combustion turbine projects within the West Texas / Eastern New Mexico service territory. This is a hands-on, field-based engineering role focused on construction execution, engineering coordination, commissioning, and startup activities. The selected candidate will work closely with project teams, EPC contractors, and equipment vendors to ensure successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a field engineering resource supporting construction activities
  • Manage and coordinate EPC Requests for Information (RFIs) and responses
  • Support resolution of open engineering issues during construction
  • Assist with commissioning and startup activities
  • Provide technical oversight of EPC field work
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, construction managers, contractors, and vendors
  • Review drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
  • Support technical troubleshooting and issue resolution in the field
Typical Day: This position will be onsite supporting daily construction and engineering activities. Responsibilities include reviewing drawings, managing RFIs, coordinating with the EPC contractor and turbine manufacturer, supporting field execution, and assisting with commissioning and startup efforts. Required Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting EPC construction projects
  • Familiarity with RFI processes and document control systems
  • Experience working in field or construction environments
  • Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience (mechanical preferred)
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Siemens combustion turbines
  • Experience working for major EPC firms or utilities such as Burns & McDonnell, Black & Veatch, Sargent & Lundy, Kiewit, Siemens, or other large investor-owned utilities
  • Experience with InEight, TeamBinder, or similar EPC document management systems

Schedule & Overtime
  • Standard daytime work schedule
  • Overtime opportunities expected as construction activities increase
  • Occasional Saturday work may be required
Assignment Duration
  • Initial contract term: 12 months
  • Overall project duration: Approximately 3 years
  • Strong potential for extension based on project needs and performance
Location & Travel Primary project locations include:
  • Muleshoe, TX
  • Seminole, TX / Hobbs, NM
The project sites are approximately 110 miles apart. The project team is based in Amarillo, TX, where initial onboarding may occur before transitioning to site assignments. Per Diem & Travel Benefits: Candidates residing outside a 50-mile radius of the project locations are eligible for GSA per diem seven days per week, including:
  • Lodging: $110/day
  • Meals & Incidental Expenses (M&IE): $68/day
  • Total Per Diem: $178/day ($1,246/week)
  • Company trucks will be provided for site travel.
