Job description

Kurt J. Lesker Company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of large‑scale electronic equipment and machinery used in vacuum systems. This role applies core electrical engineering principles to deliver safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs using computer‑aided engineering tools and design software. This role demonstrates strong proficiency in electrical design concepts, practices, and procedures, and works to plan and execute project tasks within a low volume, high variability manufacturing environment.
  • Location: Jefferson Hills, PA 
  • Division: Process Equipment Division
  • Reports To: Engineering Manager
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and detail electrical components and systems for safe, reliable equipment operation
  • Design electrical power distribution systems for vacuum and process equipment
  • Design and document equipment control systems
  • Create and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) in the corporate ERP system
  • Perform prototype assembly, wiring, testing, and validation of components and sub‑modules
  • Execute cost‑effective engineering improvements to reduce the cost of existing components
  • Support engineering projects to meet schedule, cost, quality, and performance targets
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical design experience
  • Strong CAD experience (electrical drawings and schematics)
  • Proficiency with industry compliance codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, UL, and CE
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other 2D drafting software
  • Design experience supporting automated or industrial equipment
