Associate Metallurgist - Technology

Primary Responsibilities for the Associate Metallurgist - Technology

  • Entry level position to learn basic company processes, alloys, and customers.
  • Develop skills which will enable provision of a range of technical services to our internal and external customers supporting the attainment of Company and division goals.
  • Demonstrates the understanding of how to properly make disposition of non-conforming and off-standard material.
  • Supports team efforts with supervision.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required for the Associate Metallurgist - Technology

  • Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Business/Functional Expertise: Applies knowledge; has basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in a function.
  • Project Management: Accountable for technical contribution to a project team or sub-team. Works with others to achieve team goals within scope of basic knowledge and skills within own function. Has no formal role in managing projects.
  • Financial Management: May be aware of costs related to own work.
  • Fundamental knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods and practices.
  • Developing ability to be accountable for subsets of project deliverables.
  • Developing knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment, and of statistical methods, six sigma and/or BPI practices.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, to travel, to learn statistical methods and tools, to function as an individual contributor with direct supervision, and to provide guidance to peers and manager in own projects and opportunities with moderate assistance.
  • Ability to assist others in providing guidance and support to external customers in key projects and opportunities.
  • Demonstrates functional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to support and participate in team efforts.
  • Ability to assist internal customers.
  • Developing ability to lead small projects and direct work.
