Job description

The salary for this role is $32.00 - $35.00 per hour. Overtime Eligible.Night Shift (6pm - 6am)

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.  Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner.  Obeys safety guidelines when on plant sites and terminal.
  • Environment: Establish the environment as a priority in daily activities and act as a steward to the environment.  Demonstrate a commitment to meet or exceed environmental compliance.
  • Terminal Operator: Willingness to do what is required when material transfers are not needed. Work closely with terminal manager and other operators. Perform material loading and unloading operations at the terminal. Perform housekeeping of mobile equipment, stationary equipment, and plant grounds.  Assist with corrective and preventative maintenance projects. Correct all safety deficiencies immediately and communicate all issues to the Terminal Manager.
  • Delivery and Production: Maneuver truck into loading or unloading positions by following all best practices to include identifying hazards and communicating with proper personnel.  Responsible for submitting true, accurate, and complete logs, vehicle inspection forms, timecards, trip envelopes, and payroll recap forms.  Bills of Lading must be complete and accurate including the origin, destination, and customer signature when applicable.  Responsible for unloading within the limits of pneumatic and terminal equipment limits.
    • Night shift required. To work night shift, you will be required to work and look out for fellow employees working the shift with you. Must have the ability to work without supervision and follow rules in the absence of supervisors. 
  • Truck Maintenance and Image: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.  Responsible for keeping company equipment clean and ensuring that safety, mechanical, and emergency equipment is in good working condition.  Responsible for truck cleanliness and basic truck maintenance including checking fluid levels, tire air pressure, and notifying management on the wear of tires and brake pads.
  • Communication & Reporting: Responsible for the documentation of material delivered.  Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.  It is required to report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business needs.
Relationship with Other Jobs
  • Reports to Kansas City Terminal Manager
  • Works closely with terminal personnel
  • Works with terminal operations. On days when rail is shut down for any reason you will be expected to haul loads to other terminals as needed by the business. Truck and trailer cleaning will be required on these days as well.
Specific Accountabilities
  • Safety performance objective is “Zero” accidents and incidents
  • Responsible to achieve performance targets for safety, service, and volume delivered
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • Must have CDL Class A license
  • Must have pneumatic tanker dry bulk experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Must be flexible and able to balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the desire to seek solutions.
  • Ability to maintain composure in all situations and not become defensive or irritated.
  • Must be a strong team player and gain the trust and support of peers.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Share information in a timely manner so the business can make decisions and plan accordingly.
  • Must communicate with Plant Managers and Operations Personnel.
