Overview

GP Reeves, Inc. was founded in 1971 and has grown to become a leading global provider of engineered dispensing systems and solutions for manufacturing. We design and build complete lines of grease, oils, ambient and heated material dispensing equipment and automation. 


We are looking for someone to be mentored by our Lead Sales Account Manager to eventually either split the greater Detroit area, or create a new territory.  You will work with our Lead Sales Account Manager for up to 2 years to make sure you are trained with our products.  You will be responsible for maintaining a designated customer base and ensuring all needs of these companies are met. This will include gathering project specs, quoting standard and custom GP Reeves products, and maintaining contact with the customer throughout the entire sales cycle to ensure the highest level of satisfaction is met. The Account Manager may also be responsible for providing technical support within their region.  This position will be based in the Detroit area, with the ideal candidate being centrally located within the territory.  


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sales of systems and parts to existing and new customers in an assigned territory.
  • Regularly travel to customers to support new or existing projects while delivering superior support and communication.
  • Follow up on leads and customer requests in an accurate and timely manner, preparing quotes and coordinating projects to satisfy customer requirements and expectations.
  • Identify and grow new and potential customers, converting opportunities to profitable sales.
  • Identify new applications, system upgrades and new customer needs to recommend the best solution for improving customer processes.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of GP Reeves products, prices, policies, and procedures; understand which GP Reeves products can be most advantageously used with all applications.
  • Work to meet established sales budget as assigned.
  • Advise sales team of new markets, changes in existing markets, competitor activities (prices and product changes), and needs for new types of dispensing.
  • Enter and maintain all company and contact information in CRM system.
  • Maintain professional appearance, equipment, and vehicle in a manner that reflects well on the company’s image.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised, plan schedule, and travel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations.


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate degree or two-year technical certificate, or 4 years’ experience of capital equipment sales.
  • Understanding of Fluid Dynamics required.
  • Basic electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills required.
  • Experience in industrial maintenance, installation or field support is preferred.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting is preferred
  • Experience with robotics and automation is preferred.
  • Experience in Material Dispensing preferred.


Skills and Abilities

  • Proven record of technical equipment sales.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills.
  • Hydraulic systems knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to read installation, dimension and troubleshooting drawings plus hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be an independent individual who is self-motivating and needs little supervision.

Travel Details

  • Estimated 60% travel in assigned sales territory


Position Location

  • It is preferred that the candidate be centrally located in the region, but would be willing to accommodate for well qualified candidates.
  • Access to a nearby airport and ownership of a personal vehicle is highly preferred.
