Entry-Level Position with Growth Opportunities
Position Overview
Join our team as a Truck Service Technician and launch your career in a safety-focused shop or field environment. In this entry-level role, you’ll play a vital part in keeping our equipment fleet in top condition. If you’re eager to learn, ready to work with your hands, and interested in advancing your skills, this is the opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities
· Perform preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, loaders, and other equipment to ensure reliable operation.
· Inspect machinery for leaks, wear, and potential issues, reporting findings to the shop lead.
· After training, conduct certified brake inspections, including air brakes, within six months of hire.
· Document maintenance activities and inventory using a computer for accurate recordkeeping.
· Maintain weekly inventory of filters, oils, and other supplies, and report to shop lead.
· Contribute to site upkeep by cleaning, sweeping, mowing, and handling trash removal.
· Assist with minor mechanical repairs, expanding your skills as you learn proper techniques.
· Operate tools and equipment such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, saws, hoists, jacks, grinders, paint sprayers, cutting torches, pneumatic tools, and measuring devices.
· Participate in general shop housekeeping and property maintenance.
· Work overtime as needed and be prepared to handle hot, cold, and wet weather conditions.
· Travel to job sites as required; if driving a company vehicle, meet fleet safety qualifications.
· For heavy truck mechanics, possess or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License and pass DOT exams as required.
What We’re Looking For
· Minimum high school diploma or GED required; some college, technical training, or related experience is a plus.
· Must be at least 18 years old due to the work environment.
· Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and Fit for Work physical.
· Valid driver’s license and eligibility for fleet safety program.
· Professional, courteous attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
· Flexible schedule — willingness to work nights, weekends, overtime, and outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Strong teamwork skills and willingness to assist others as needed.
· Ability to travel to job sites using personal transportation and occasionally work away from home.
· Strict adherence to safety standards and PPE requirements as mandated by OSHA/MSHA.
· Physical ability to climb, lift, carry, bend, push, pull, reach, kneel, stoop, and twist, including moving objects weighing 50-70 lbs.
Physical & Environmental Expectations
· Work involves frequent climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, pushing/pulling, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and twisting.
· Exposure to noise, fumes, gases, dust, and hazards such as moving mechanical parts and temperature extremes.
· Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, vest, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection) must be worn as required.
