As of Jun 14, 2026, the average hourly pay for entry level nurses without nclex in the United States is $38.62, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $29.57 and $43.27 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can I work as a nurse without NCLEX?

Entry-level nurses typically need to pass the NCLEX-RN exam to become licensed and legally work as registered nurses. Without NCLEX certification, most states do not permit individuals to practice as licensed nurses, though some roles in healthcare may be available in non-clinical or assistant positions. Licensing requirements vary by state or country, so it is important to check local regulations.

What jobs can I do if I don't want to be a nurse anymore?

Entry level nurses without NCLEX can pursue roles in healthcare administration, medical assisting, patient care coordination, or medical billing and coding. These positions often require related certifications or training but do not require active nursing licensure, allowing for a transition into administrative or support roles within healthcare settings.

Can you still work as a nurse if you don't pass the NCLEX?

Entry level nurses cannot work as licensed registered nurses without passing the NCLEX exam, which is required for licensure in most regions. However, they may find roles such as nursing assistants or patient care technicians that do not require NCLEX certification. These positions involve supporting licensed nurses and do not grant full nursing licensure.

While both roles work in healthcare settings, CNAs have specific certification requirements, whereas Entry Level Nurses Without Nclex may be in transitional or training phases.

How to make an extra $2000 a month as a nurse?

Entry level nurses can increase their income by taking on overtime shifts, working in high-demand specialties, or providing private care services. Developing specialized skills or certifications, such as in IV therapy or wound care, can also enable higher-paying opportunities outside regular hours.
