Program Assistant

Nuclear Policy Program

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers, is seeking a program assistant to work with scholars in our Washington, DC-based Nuclear Policy Program.

The Carnegie Nuclear Policy Program works to strengthen international security by diagnosing acute nuclear risks, informing debates on solutions, and engaging international actors to effect change. The program's work spans nuclear deterrence, disarmament, arms control, nonproliferation, security, and energy.

The position will provide administrative and secretarial support, make travel arrangements, prepare expense reports, perform database work, handle web postings, coordinate meetings and events, interface with the international public policy community, and help organize a possible Carnegie International Nuclear Policy Conference in 2027. The position will also assist in the preparation of grant reports and budgets as well as monthly financial reviews of grant spending. Excellent entry level opportunity to work with senior scholars.

The ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree as well as experience in providing logistical, budgetary, and event support. The ideal candidate would also be able to demonstrate excellent teamwork skills, the ability to balance multiple competing tasks successfully, and attention to detail even under time pressure. We welcome applicants with knowledge of nuclear policy, though such knowledge is not required.
