We are a 10-partner training practice with approximately 12,000 patients, operating from health-board owned premises centrally located within Ayrshire; an easy 30 minute commute from the Southside of Glasgow.

We have a dynamic and forward-thinking team, complemented by two salaried GPs, an experienced senior ANP, a practice nurse, two general practice pharmacists and an experienced and versatile healthcare assistant team. We work closely with our health board-employed pharmacy team, advanced physiotherapy practitioner, CTAC nurses, mental health practitioner, community link worker and income advisor. We are well supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic administrative and practice management team.

Team and development

We have many years of experience of ANPs integrated within our clinical team. We offer a comprehensive and highly structured induction programme. Regular long-term structured support with a named GP mentor is provided to facilitate continuous ongoing individualised advancement.

Our focus is teamwork and to be supportive of one another. We strive to be inclusive and open, and encourage input from all our team members. We run regular Clinical Meetings for all clinicians which helps with CPD. We are an established GP Training Practice with 3 trainers and an excellent record of success. Townhead Surgery is regularly involved with tutoring University of Glasgow medical students, with very positive feedback.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, effective, high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and use own initiative, clinical judgement and decision making.
  • Engage in telephone triage, telephone consultations and advice calls in addition to face-to-face consultations.
  • Work within the on-the-day triage system and contribute to service development as a senior clinician.

  • Primary care Advanced Nurse Practitioner with scope for 4-8 sessions; flexible for right candidate.
  • Experience in telephone triage and advice calls; ability to manage triage, clinical decision making and patient safety.
  • Appropriate qualifications including V300 preferred.
Benefits and arrangements
