Job Summary
Job Summary:
The Utah Children's Project/ ECHO Program has an immediate opening for a Clinical Research Coordinator, in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah Spencer F. Eccles School of Medicine. The candidate will work with the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes Program, a large national children's health study investigating environmental influences on child health and development. This project will follow children from childhood through adolescence, working with other cohorts totaling more than 50,000 children from different backgrounds across the nation. The study focuses on five key pediatric outcomes that have a high public health impact: Pre, peri and postnatal, upper and lower airways, obesity, neurodevelopment, and positive health.
Responsibilities include coordinating technical and administrative details involved in research studies for the Utah Children's Project/ECHO Program, and assisting the Principal Investigator and research team in achieving study integrity and objectives through the successful implementation and completion of protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Coordinate day-to-day clinical trial activities in adherence to Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), study protocols, and applicable regulations. Implement processes and organize efforts within study team to achieve objectives, coordinating research procedures, study visits, and follow-up care. Create and maintain tools and documentation to track study metrics, providing updates to management. Conduct pre-study, site qualification, study initiation, monitoring visits, and close-out activities. Maintain source documents and report adverse events. Recruit, screen, enroll, and obtain consent from study participants. Collect and maintain patient and laboratory data. Work directly with study participants and families and serve as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, and government agencies. Work under the direction of the Primary Investigator (PI).
  1. Assesses protocol for clarity and subject safety, reviews inclusion/exclusion criteria; clarifies concerns and questions with supervisor or Research Manager.
  2. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Completes specific study assignments within timelines.
  3. Coordinates the daily operation of all assigned research project(s) activities including recruitment, explaining and obtaining informed consent, study mailings, online surveys, and follow-up of study participants. Utilizes study database to track participant and data collection flow. Documents source files and monitors and utilizes status reports.
  4. Contacts study participants to explain and obtain or update informed consent, collects and verifies data, answers questions about the study, and verifies receipt or completion of study materials.
  5. Schedules and conducts in person and televisit study visits including obtaining anthropometric measurements, cognitive, respiratory or activity assessments, biospecimen samples, and survey data. Coordinates related facility, clinical staff support and equipment availability for in person visits and assembling, drop off, and pick up of visit kits for televisits or remote data collection.
  6. Reports and tracks adverse events (AE). Reports serious AEs to Research Manager and IRB.
  7. Reports and documents protocol deviations. Reports serious protocol deviations to Research Manager, IRB and sponsor.
  8. Assists Research Manager in compiling project specific report information.
  9. Maintains documents as required by study guidelines.
  10. Assists and ensures proper collection, transport, processing and shipment of specimens.
  11. Contacts and recruits potential study participants at community outreach events or health clinics. Travels to and presents study information at community events to conduct recruitment. Assists in screening eligible participants.
