What you'll do
HVAC Tech I helps to provide the uninterrupted flow of heating, cooling ventilation, and the mechanical needs within Bassett Healthcare Network.
Serves in monitoring, inspecting, repairing, adjusting, maintaining, and installing routine and complex HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning & refrigeration) and other types of mechanical equipment, while adhering to safety codes and regulations to ensure that equipment and systems are operating safely and at optimum performance levels.
  • Inspects, repairs, and installs mechanical equipment including HVAC units, vacuum pumps, medical and control air compressors, various pumps, and other types of equipment to ensure that all systems are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Adheres to established safety regulations and guidelines to ensure that repairs are carried out in an effective and safe manner.
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions for HVAC and refrigeration equipment and other types of equipment to ensure that the number and frequency of system failures is kept at a minimum.
  • Trains and assists new and entry level mechanics as needed to ensure that staff members can perform assigned job functions.
  • Assists and communicates with contractors, designers, supervisors, Bassett Health Network staff and others to provide the information and support required to keep HVAC & refrigeration systems operating at optimum performance levels.
  • Designs, fabricates, and replaces parts and materials used in HVAC & refrigeration systems to keep hospital equipment in proper operating condition by using the most cost-effective solution for affecting repairs.
  • Responds to repair requests from Bassett Health Network staff by solving equipment malfunctions according to established policies and procedures to provide Bassett Health Network departments with prompt and efficient maintenance service.
  • Maintains records of maintenance and preventive maintenance operations according to established policies and procedures to ensure that accurate documentation is maintained and made available for reference.
  • Identifies, prices and orders parts from vendors as needed to maintain appropriate stock levels and resolve emergency situations.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of the Bassett Health Network.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of HVAC & refrigeration equipment maintenance by attending seminars or workshops and reading professional journals and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the job.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the HVAC & refrigeration area.
  • Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Vocational/Technical in HVAC skill trade, preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in Commercial HVAC & refrigeration, required
    • Years of Technical training may count toward years of experience, required.

License/ Certification:
  • Must possess a valid NYS Class D driver's license and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles, required

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum:
USD $22.85/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $34.28/Hr.
