Job description

Job Summary:

We are looking for an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to join our client’s growing team. This position involves installing cabling and networking equipment in a data center environment, requiring candidates to have a strong background in construction. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior technicians and project managers, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to the team’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation of structured cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic cables) in data center environments.
  • Help set up, mount, and install networking equipment such as routers, switches, and servers according to project specifications.
  • Follow detailed installation plans, blueprints, and technical diagrams to ensure correct placement and cable routing.
  • Use construction skills to handle tasks such as drilling, mounting hardware, and securing cables.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to data center cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Support senior technicians in testing, troubleshooting, and labeling cables and equipment.
  • Document completed tasks and assist in maintaining updated project notes and reports.
  • Comply with safety procedures, company policies, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a construction environment, preferably with exposure to low voltage installations or electrical work.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools commonly used in construction and cabling work.
  • Willingness to learn about structured cabling, data center infrastructure, and networking equipment.
