Job description

Under the limited supervision of the Motor Shop Technician level 3 and the Motor Shop Manager this position is tasked with learning the job duties and responsibilities of Motor Shop Technician 2 and assist senior level Motor Shop Technicians in performance of duties. Assemble motors with minimal supervision, have working knowledge of motor parts and numbers.

Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Assist in teardown and building of downhole of mud motors
  • Navigate, Load and unload inspection racks and trucks
  • Ability to identify parts by name and numbers
  • Safely operate overhead crane
  • Measures items using micrometers, calipers, stator measuring device
  • Paint and stencil tools correctly in a neat and professional manner
  • Notify level 3 and Motor Shop Manager of any issues related to the motors and equipment
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Conduct failure analysis and damage reporting
  • Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) as needed
  • Can train a level 1 Motor Shop Technician
  • Must be able to stand up to 12 hours per shift, while performing repetitive task with manual effort
  • Must be able to maintain an on call status 24/7
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, a combination of education, experience and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities may be considered
  • Forklift & Crane certified, First Aid, CPR, AED, OSHA 10 trainings required
  • Previous motor experience is considered an asset

Skill Requirements:

  • Learns quickly and adapts to new problems and situations
  • Proficient knowledge of mud motors with a thorough understanding of Vector Gages, Micrometers, Measuring Stator/Rotor and operating Torque Master
  • Complete safety training and follow all safety procedures, adhere to proper use of PPE as required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and other in house technology (Great Plains, Trax, CAPEX)
  • Listens and is able to communicate effective with managers and peers, both written and verbally
