Job description

Job Summary:
The morning Courier plays a role in the safe and timely transportation of laboratory specimens from client facilites to Midtown Lab. This position supports tow scheduled runs each morning, covering approximately 40 locations across the tri-state area (Indiana and Kentucky). The courier ensures that specimens are picked up, handled and delivered in accordance with regulatory standards and internal protocols, enabling efficient lab processing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Specimen Collection & Transport
  • Perform two scheduled morning runs:
    • First Run: ~17 stops in the Petersburg/Oakland City/Gibson/Princeton/Ft. Branch area
    • Second Run: ~10 stops in the Henderson/Owensboro/Reo area
  • Collect routine and STAT specimens from nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare facilities.
  • Ensure specimens are properly packaged, labeled, and stored during transport

Delivery to Midtown Lab
  • Transport all collected specimens to Midtown Lab within designated timeframes to support overnight processing.

Client Services & Communication
  • Serve as a professional and courteous point of contact for client facilities.
  • Communicate any delays, issues, or special instructions to Outreach Lab Team Leads.

Documentation & Compliance
  • Accurately log pickups, deliveries, and any exceptions using provided tools or systems
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety protocols for handling biological specimens.

Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of assigned courier vehicle.
  • Ensure transport containers and supplies are stocked and functioning properly.

Adaptability & Problem Solving
  • Respond to last-minute pickup requests or route changes with flexibility.
  • Troubleshoot minor issues independently and escalate when necessary.
