Who will you be working with?

L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our assembly team. This position will work directly with other assemblers and assembly supervisors on a daily basis to ensure production goals are met. This role may also work with our Research and Development department as well as our Engineering department to test equipment, tools, and products.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Assembly team, you will be responsible for the assembly of our MESABI Heat Exchangers. The assembly team does a variety of tasks depending on the day – anything from installing grommets, to assembling fans, motors, belts, etc., to building crates for the final product to be shipped in. This diverse role allows employees to work with a variety of power tools while having the opportunity to grow their knowledge and skills. This role may also observe, guide, and assist with training. This position works directly with other assemblers, assembly supervisors, and the production manager when necessary.

This position rotates shifts every other week on days and afternoons. Day shift operates Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm. Afternoon operates Monday through Friday 2:00pm - 10:00pm. OT is possible depending on production needs.

What do we want to know about you?

  • 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or GED with 1-year of work experience.
  •  Strong mechanical ability and experience using power tools and forklift when necessary.

What will your typical day look like?

  •  Test heat exchangers.
  • Build crates using hand and power tools.
  • Install grommets using grommet guns and tubes.
  • Assemble fans, belts, motors, RTTS exchangers, capture seal oil coolers using electric power drive unit.
  • Observe, guide, and assist with training.
  • Assist in other areas of production as needed if qualified.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Domestic and international travel possible depending on the project.
  • Perform related work or job duties as required by supervisor.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  •  Wear correct PPE – earplugs, protective eye wear, steel-toed boots, and work provided uniform (gloves when necessary).
  • Lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Stand on concrete for 8-10 hours.
  • Work in high heat conditions.
  • Use power tools while standing, twisting, crouching, standing on step ladder, or holding them above your head.
  • Practice and maintain safe work conditions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Entry Level:

  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Exposure to blueprint reading.
  • Mechanical ability, operate air impacts, drills, other power tools.
  • Read tape measure, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Ability to learn and advance quickly.
  • Good at problem solving.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions.
  • Show ability to read, write and use basic math skills.
  • Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment written math test, physical, drug, and background test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP system.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.

The hourly range for this role is between $21.00 - $30.50. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
