Job description

1st Shift Machine Operator – Entry Level

Grover Corporation is looking for a dependable and motivated 1st Shift Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in manufacturing and develop hands-on machining skills.

Schedule

Monday – Thursday | 10-hour shifts
40+ hours per week
Overtime may be required, including Fridays and/or Saturdays, based on production needs.

What You'll Do
  • Operate production machinery according to traveler specifications and company standards.
  • Machine piston rings to precise dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform machining operations including cutting, sanding, drilling, grinding, and turning.
  • Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Make minor machine adjustments to maintain product quality.
  • Complete pre-start machine inspections before beginning production.
  • Notify the appropriate lead, supervisor, subject matter expert, or Quality team member when a first-piece inspection is required.
  • Accurately track productivity and production activity using company software.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials and production processes.
  • Meet daily production goals and ensure proper flow of parts between operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Flex between machines and operations as needed to support production demands.
  • Follow company policies and demonstrate Grover Corporation's core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow basic written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing or machining processes preferred.
  • Previous experience with piston ring manufacturing, machining equipment, or tooling is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand a production traveler.
  • Ability to use or learn to use manual micrometers, calipers, and basic hand tools.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to work with decimal measurements to the ten-thousandths.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
  • Good manual hand dexterity.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift items over 50 pounds with assistance through a team lift.
  • Ability to work a 40+ hour work week and overtime as needed.
