What does it mean to be a Financial Accountant at GLS?

As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for adhering to GAAP, IRC, and associated regulations, preparing monthly accounting journal entries, book-to-tax adjustments, and various general ledger account reconciliations. This position will maintain various financial reporting records, and assist in the preparation of financial statements for the Company and its affiliates.

How will you drive value within the organization as a Financial Accountant?
  • Complete the monthly closing process including reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts and journal entries
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual taxable income estimates and allocations
  • Assist with completing periodic state and local tax filings and federal information reporting
  • Develop, prepare, and review ad-hoc reports as needed for internal and external customers including internal and external audits
  • Evaluate processes for opportunities to improve efficiency, make recommendations for change, and support implementation of improved processes
  • Accurately maintain electronic records and files
What should you already know to be successful in this role?
  • Minimum of bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Financial Management, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field required
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and financial concepts required
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, data gathering, and analysis skills required
  • Strong Excel skills required; basic knowledge least one computer coding language (VBA, SQL) preferred
  • High level of intellectual curiosity required including the inclination and ability to understand the drivers of financial results and the overall financial picture of the organization at a high-level
  • High level of professional maturity; verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with senior management required
  • Strong drive, ambition, and self-motivation; 'self-starter' with the ability to independently resolve day-today issues
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Team player that can adapt in a fast paced and changing environment

Employment Requirements
  • This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, the days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required, including in excess of 40 hours per week as business demands dictate
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
  • The position does not require travel
  • Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity
