Summary
This is the first (entry) level of Machinists; in this role employee is able to alternately set up and operate more than one type of machine tool; such as CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, grinders, etc in machining operations. Performs these functions in the completion of jobs that are moderate in complexity. Operates machinery and maintains setups where previous tooling, operation sequence, fixtures and attachments have been established.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Ensures maximum levels of production through proper operation of machinery.
2. Performs machining of parts and products in accordance with drawings, specifications and material requirements.
4. Meets close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill.
5. Able to work from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup information including material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread and profiling and contouring.
6. Follows proper operating procedures and maintains proper records in accordance with plant management system.
7. Follows all safety guidelines including utilization of proper PPE.
8. Keeps work area clean and organized to insure safety and environmental compliance.
9. Produces quality parts while meeting scrap and rework standards; through proper in-process inspection.
10. Maintains quality standards on all parts being produced through proper use of measuring devices and fixtures.
11. Maintains production records to avoid costly errors.
13. Demonstrates positive relations and teamwork as established in the IMI Way and Leadership Blueprint within the organization
