Job description


WHO IS INDUSTRIAL METAL SUPPLY?
IMS is the only metal distributor that can service manufacturers, fabricators and job shops to contractors, maintenance departments and hobbyists all within hours. For the past 77 years we have been constantly finding ways to save time and money for all our clients. IMS provides custom cut metals for multiple industries including Aerospace; Energy; Semiconductor; Transportation; Construction; Medical Device, and Mining. Our inventory is massive, quality standards unmatched, and our turn-around time is in a league of its own.

JOB SUMMARY
The Machine Saw Operator will safely operate forklifts, side loaders and other industrial equipment to move raw metal materials from inventory to metal-cutting cells. This is a great opportunity for someone with material handling with entry level machine operation experience to learn and become proficient with various saw cutting machines (including plate, band and shear industrial saws).

CORE JOB DUTIES
  • Ensures orderly distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies to other cells, and staging finished product for distribution.
  • Inspect cut material for accuracy and defects using measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, pin-gauges, etc.)
  • Contributes to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.
  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Basic math and mechanical skills
  • Experience with measurement hand tools such as micrometers and calipers
  • 1 + years’ experience operating a forklift
  • 1 + years' experience working on a saw machine, or other industrial machinery
  • 1 + year of experience working in a warehouse, production, distribution or manufacturing environment
  • Read, write, and speak in English
  • Experience in the metal cutting/distribution industry is a plus
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs.
