Job Summary

The Entry Level LTL Rate Analyst supports Dynamic Logistix’s managed transportation clients by analyzing LTL freight rates, tariffs, and market data to drive smarter pricing, procurement, and capacity decisions. This role will partner with Sales, Operations, and Account Management to turn shipment data into measurable cost savings and service improvements.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Analyze LTL freight rates, NMFC classifications, fuel surcharges, and accessorial charges to support competitive, market‑aligned pricing for shippers.

  • Advise LTL shippers on procurement best practices, pricing strategy, and capacity solutions to drive cost and service improvements.

  • Build and maintain rate matrices, tariff structures, and lane‑specific pricing models using DLX’s TMS and market intelligence tools.

  • Analyze historical and forecasted shipment data to identify trends, establish baselines, and uncover cost‑saving opportunities.

  • Benchmark client pricing against market and industry standards to flag gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to define scope, gather requirements, and align on deliverables and project milestones.

  • Support RFP and bid responses by preparing accurate, customer‑specific pricing proposals within required timelines.

  • Resolve rating discrepancies and perform root‑cause analysis in partnership with Operations and Accounting.

  • Track contract and tariff expirations, keeping pricing agreements and rating systems current.

  • Deliver clear, data‑driven updates and insights to both internal teams and external customers.

  • Support enterprise LTL opportunities through consultative strategy and advanced benchmarking tools.

  • Continuously enhance pricing models, analytics tools, and reporting to support evolving customer and business needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling); experience with a TMS or pricing/quoting platform is a plus.

  • Ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to internal teams and external customers.

  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Exposure to multi‑modal (FTL/LTL) pricing and procurement is a plus.

  • Familiarity with market rate benchmarking tools (e.g., DAT, SONAR) is a plus.

  • Experience supporting RFPs or enterprise‑level pricing engagements is a plus.

  • Comfort working with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to speed up analysis, reporting, or research; deep AI expertise not required, but hands‑on experience is a plus.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in LTL pricing, freight brokerage, transportation analytics, or a related role.

  • Working knowledge of LTL rating logic, including NMFC classifications, base rates, FAK, accessorials, and fuel surcharges.

Physical Requirements
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and office equipment; ability to access file cabinets and items stored at various levels, including overhead.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably in person, over the telephone, and in group settings.

  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).

  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, draw valid conclusions, and make sound decisions.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
