Job description

About The Arts

The Arts is a boutique residential and hospitality-inspired community in the heart of Downtown Glendale’s Arts District.

Located in one of Glendale’s most desirable and walkable neighborhoods, The Arts is close to restaurants, cafes, shops, entertainment, transit, and the growing creative community of Downtown Glendale.

The property includes a mix of long-term residents, furnished monthly stays, and short-term guests. We are looking for a reliable, organized, hospitality-minded Live-In Onsite Community Manager / Resident Manager to help create a welcoming, well-run, and community-oriented environment.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to live onsite in a prime Downtown Glendale location while helping shape the resident and guest experience at a boutique creative-living community.

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

This role includes both cash wages and a valuable onsite housing package.

The cash wage is $18/hour for hours worked. In addition, the role includes a discounted onsite manager unit, utilities, WiFi, furnishings, and parking as part of the overall compensation package.

Based on an expected schedule of approximately 25 hours per week, the combined value of the cash wage and housing-related benefits is estimated at approximately $27/hour in total compensation value.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to live in a highly sought-after Downtown Glendale building while working part-time in a community-focused onsite role.

The package includes:

  • $18/hour cash wage for hours worked
  • Discounted onsite manager unit
  • Utilities included
  • WiFi included
  • Furnished unit
  • Parking spot included
  • $25/month cell phone / business communication reimbursement
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with applicable law
  • Reimbursement for approved business expenses
  • Estimated total compensation value of approximately $27/hour when cash wages and housing-related benefits are combined, based on approximately 25 hours per week

Final compensation, housing, schedule, and employment terms will be outlined in the Resident Manager Agreement.

About the Role

This is not a traditional onsite manager role.

We are looking for someone who enjoys people, hospitality, community, and creative environments — but who is also organized, responsible, and comfortable supporting day-to-day onsite property needs.

You will serve as the onsite representative for The Arts and help support residents, furnished-stay guests, short-term guests, vendors, and the property management team.

This role is ideal for someone with experience or interest in:

  • Property management
  • Hospitality or boutique hotels
  • Short-term rentals
  • Co-living or co-working communities
  • Events and community-building
  • Arts, entrepreneurship, or creative spaces

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the live-in onsite representative for The Arts
  • Help welcome residents, furnished-stay guests, and short-term guests
  • Assist with move-ins, check-ins, check-outs, and basic building orientation
  • Support resident and guest communication
  • Help with smart lock/access support and basic troubleshooting
  • Monitor common areas for cleanliness, safety, maintenance needs, and community standards
  • Enter and follow up on basic maintenance tickets in AppFolio
  • Coordinate with property management on resident needs, guest needs, access issues, move-ins, move-outs, and building concerns
  • Provide basic onsite support for approved vendors and service providers
  • Help organize or support occasional resident gatherings, mixers, workshops, pop-ups, or creative community events
  • Create content for social media and post regularly to grow the Arts online presence
  • Collect and share resident/guest feedback with management
  • Help document community activity, events, and resident life when appropriate
  • Communicate with management using tools such as AppFolio, Slack, email, Google Drive, and other systems

What We’re Looking For

You may be a strong fit if:

  • You are reliable, organized, and proactive
  • You enjoy creating a welcoming environment
  • You communicate clearly and professionally
  • You are comfortable interacting with residents, guests, vendors, and management
  • You are comfortable using technology and learning new systems
  • You care about cleanliness, safety, hospitality, and the resident experience
  • You can manage your own schedule and follow established procedures
  • You are comfortable living onsite and being a visible representative of the property
  • You are interested in creative communities, hospitality, events, arts, entrepreneurship, or community-building

Preferred Experience

  • Property management, resident manager, onsite manager, or assistant property manager experience
  • Hospitality, boutique hotel, short-term rental, co-living, co-working, or community management experience
  • Experience with AppFolio or similar property management software
  • Experience with Airbnb, Booking.com, Guesty, Hostaway, Hospitable, or similar platforms
  • Experience with smart locks, access systems, maintenance tickets, or resident communication tools
  • Event planning, community programming, local partnerships, or grassroots marketing experience
  • Connections to the local arts, music, hospitality, entrepreneurial, or creative community

Schedule

This is a part-time live-in onsite role expected to average approximately 25 hours per week.

The schedule may vary depending on move-ins, guest activity, resident needs, events, and building issues. At least one regular day off per week will be provided.

Additional work beyond the expected schedule must be approved in advance, except for true emergencies.

What This Role Is Not

This role is not expected to perform licensed repair work, formal accounting, rent collection, legal notices, eviction work, or major leasing decisions unless specifically authorized by management.

The Resident Manager is not expected to be on call 24/7 for non-emergency matters. True emergencies or safety-related issues should be escalated promptly according to company procedures.

Compensation & Housing

This position is structured as a combination of cash wages and housing-related benefits.

The cash wage is $18/hour for hours worked. Separately, the role includes an onsite housing package, including a discounted onsite manager unit, utilities, WiFi, furnishings, and parking. These benefits reduce the manager’s monthly living costs and are included when calculating the total value of the compensation package.

Based on approximately 25 hours per week, the total estimated compensation value is approximately $27/hour when the following are combined:

  • Cash wages
  • Rent discount
  • Utilities
  • WiFi
  • Furnishings
  • Parking

The compensation package includes:

  • Cash wage: $18/hour for hours worked
  • Housing benefit: discounted onsite manager unit
  • Utilities included
  • WiFi included
  • Furnished unit
  • Parking spot included
  • $25/month cell phone / business communication reimbursement
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with applicable law
  • Reimbursement for approved business expenses

For clarity, the $18/hour is the cash wage. The approximately $27/hour figure reflects the estimated total value of the cash wage plus housing-related benefits, based on the expected schedule.

Final compensation, housing, schedule, and employment terms will be outlined in the Resident Manager Agreement.

How to Apply

Please send your resume and a short note explaining why you are interested in living and working onsite at The Arts.

In your note, please include any experience you have with:

  • Property management
  • Hospitality
  • Resident or guest support
  • Short-term rentals
  • Events or community-building
  • Creative spaces
  • Technology tools such as AppFolio, Slack, Google Workspace, smart locks, or guest communication platforms

We look forward to hearing from you.
