Job Summary
The Camera Operator is responsible for capturing high-quality video footage for live broadcasts, digital content, and promotional materials. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, artistic vision, and the ability to follow live direction in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the Director and Technical Director to ensure all shots align with the production's creative goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Live Production: Operate professional camera equipment (handheld, tripod, or stationary) during live events, following real-time cues from the Director.
  • Technical Setup: Assist with the setup and strike of all broadcast equipment, including cameras, cabling (SDI/Fiber), monitors, and wireless transmitters.
  • Composition & Lighting: Maintain focus, framing, and color balance across various lighting conditions to ensure consistent visual quality.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks on gear; report and troubleshoot any technical malfunctions immediately.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the lighting and audio teams to ensure seamless integration of video elements.
  • Content Creation: (Optional/Hybrid) Capture "behind-the-scenes" footage and B-roll for social media platforms and marketing sizzle reels.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Contribute to the overall success of the organization in any capacity needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of professional camera systems (Sony, Blackmagic, RED, etc.) and lens variations.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry equipment weighing between 30-50 lbs.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to stay calm and focused during high-pressure live broadcasts or changing weather conditions.

Artistic Eye: Strong grasp of visual storytelling, including the "Rule of Thirds," depth of field, and dynamic movement.
