OVERVIEWJOB TITLE: Marketing and Communications Student Assistant
LOCATION: OSF Library in St. Paul
PAY RATE: $17.70 per hour
HOURS: Pick 5-7 hours per week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am and 4pm

We're looking for a student who can help us keep up with Instagram and TikTok trends, design posters that stand out from the crowd, and educate fellow Tommies about the amazing resources the library offers.
What You'll Do:- Work with staff to promote library events, services, and resources
- Once trained, you'll be trusted to work independently on multiple projects
Skills: - The ability to ask questions of others
- The curiosity and interest to learn about advertising channels and graphic design software
- The ability to complete tasks as assigned
- The ability to work with others to develop incomplete ideas while incorporating feedback
- The creativity to create flyers and posters
What does a typical day look like? - A typical shift might be 2 to 4 hours and starts with a meeting with your supervisor. You'll prioritize tasks while addressing any skill gaps. You shift could include:
- Completing a multi-step marketing campaign on a library resource
- Designing a poster for an upcoming library event
- Writing a blog post about a new database or faculty publication
- And more!
This job is detail oriented and there is no "downtime" to work on homework or study.
QUALIFICATIONS- Great written communication skills with the ability to write blogs and summarize faculty publications for the library website
- Interest in learning graphic design software
- Ability to ask clarifying questions to meet the needs of the project
- Self-motivated to recognize and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work with minimal supervision once trained
- Ability to adhere to scheduled work hours
- Good judgment and independent decision-making skills
