The Printmaking department of the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design (CSAD) has vacancies for employment for students who are part of the Federal Work Study Program. Flexible schedule and print experience a plus. The Printmaking studios are in the Flagg Building (500 17th St NW) and include: etching, lithography, letterpress, bookmaking, screenprinting, and Risograph.
Position Specific Summary
The student lab tech position includes supervising and facilitating open studios for print studios outside of normal class hours. The tech must perform open/close duties, general clean up of spaces, restocking of supplies, and reporting back to manager about low stock and equipment issues for review. Punctuality, good communication, and professional behavior are necessary to perform job duties. Manager relies on student techs to observe and report any issues during open studios. Techs may also be assigned specific studio projects as necessary depending on need. Techs will work weeknight and weekend shifts.
Standard Position Description
The student will perform basic laboratory duties and maintain supplies and stocks/inventory. Tasks may include: assisting in specific projects being completed in the lab, cleaning equipment, assisting and monitoring lab usage. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of basic printmaking techniques and art background is preferred. Night and weekend shifts are the bulk of this position and will be required for each employee.
