Position Summary:

The entry level Receiving Inspector plays a crucial role in the initial quality control process for the components and materials that go into our life-saving medical devices. In this role, the Receiving Inspector I will be responsible for basic inspecting, testing, and documenting the quality and integrity of incoming materials, components, and products. Work closely with Quality, Engineering, Purchasing and other departments to ensure that all products meet or exceed quality standards.

General Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect incoming medical devices, equipment and supplies to confirm their compliance with established quality standards.
  • Decide on product acceptability and consult with Receiving Inspector II or Lead in unusual situations.
  • Verify shipments are accurate and free from shipping damage or discrepancies.
  • Verify re-box and create labels for finished goods returned to customer.
  • Performs movement of pallets/materials within a warehouse environment to obtain samples for the Receiving Inspection tasks.
  • Utilize a variety of measurement instruments and testing equipment to carry out inspections.
  • Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated prior to use and properly secured upon completion.
  • Performs finished goods testing by utilizing test equipment and following the appropriate SOPs. Uploading testing results upon completion.
  • Perform visual inspection duties per SOP, verifying revision, identity, quantity, and potential defects as defined for product; accept or reject product during inspection process.
  • Read blueprints, work instructions, and interpret product engineering drawing requirements.
  • Handle discrepant materials per the documented disposition and document activities in appropriate ERP system or paperwork.
  • Perform products, process, and traceability assessments in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain filing systems for handling of controlled documents within affected area.
  • Identify and report any non-conforming materials or products.
  • Generate non conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues and communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Work with Quality Control and Quality/Product Engineering to address quality concerns and resolve issues.
  • Work with Purchasing to obtain critical documentation, i.e. certifications, revisions, and vendor discrepancies.
  • Issues, stores, counts, and maintains inventory into the different storage areas.
  • Complete ongoing mandatory training to enhance inspection skills.
  • Follow safety protocols effectively and adhere to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement discussions.
  • Perform other related inspection tasks as directed.

Skills and Experience:

  • Entry level understanding of reading parts paperwork, drawings/blueprints.
  • Reads, comprehends, and follows job instructions and/or protocols including verbal, written, diagramed, colored and other work-related documents; written in English.
  • Knowledge of gauge pins and blocks, calipers, forceps, micrometers and other relevant measurement tools and devices.
  • Uses English as the spoken language in the working environment.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of inspection area.
  • Document in a neat and legible manner all types of errors or discrepancies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work successfully in a team environment with minimum supervision.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Understand basic arithmetic, decimals, and fractions.

Pay Transparency: $22-$28/hr + annual bonus incentive.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality.
  • Basic understanding of quality assurance principles and regulatory compliance.
  • 1 -2 years of experience in Quality Control field.
  • 1 - 2 years of (medical device) manufacturing experience.
