Job description

The EEG Technician Entry provides beginner support to the EEG and EMU departments. Receives substantial oversight from a credentialed EEG Technologist or above, obtaining high quality, artifact-free neurodiagnostic studies on patients in the outpatient laboratory andor at the patient's bedside. This is a transitional position; more senior EEG Technologist Entry level roles with signed competencies may work independently under general technical supervision. Performs tasks in partnership with the care team to ensure patient comfort and safety while the patient is being evaluated.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Location/Dept: CSH Neurophysiology Lab
  • Job Details: 0.9 FTE; 36 hours/week - eligible for benefits (non-exempt)
  • Shift: 3 consecutive weeknight shifts per week plus call rotation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
1. Performs independent EEG procedures as appropriate Assists with special procedure EEGs such as neonatal recordings, ECS recordings and PET scan recordings.
2. Assists with special projects during non-patient care down time.
3. Assists with maintaining equipment. Participates with keeping lab in good and clean condition. Reports malfunctions to department leadership as needed.
4. Completes all documentation for procedures being conducted; follows up with clipping, pruning (with competency demonstrated) and EEG clinical file preparation.
5. Follows the International 10-20 system for proper electrode application. - Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
6. Adherers to ACNS guidelines for Neurodiagnostic procedures.
7. Maintains current knowledge to ensure a safe working environment and demonstrate practical application of all policies & procedures relative to safety, infection control, standard precautions, and risk management.
8. Observes, notates and analyses ongoing clinical and technical changes, adjusting the testing procedures as appropriate for individual recording session.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Actively enrolled in or graduate of an ABRET recognized EEG training program.
Experience: Six months of experience in Electroneurodiagnostics including completion of clinicals.
Certification(s): BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR
Licensure(s): Board Eligible according to American Board of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) Pathways
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $25.95 to $38.93
