Summary:

AGAT Laboratories is hiring for an entry-level Laboratory Technician, working out of our Gas and Condensate Lab in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This is a Full time Permanent position where you will be part of a small team of analysts that will require one to be adaptable and willing to assume new responsibilities and tasks as required. 

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare samples as well as perform lab technician analysis.
  • Maintain intermediate instrumentation in optimized and calibrated condition.
  • Troubleshoots instrumental problems and basic maintenance of instrumentation.
  • Perform sample, reagent and calibration standard preparation.
  • Theoretical knowledge of GC’s and chromatography/spectroscopy.
  • Report results for client samples.
  • Verify and validate data.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Follow all SOPs and QC procedures.
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround time specifications.
  • Other administrative/laboratory tasks as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

  • B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry/Environmental Science preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot and maintain GC equipment.
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience using MS office.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and mentor other technician.
  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 10kgs)
  • Participate in on-call for weekends and evenings, shift runs 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
  • Willing to work overtime during peak season.
