Position Specific Summary
This position is for stockroom assistants in the Department of Chemistry. Student workers respond to equipment needs of lab students and instructors. Each student worker must pay special attention to safety, being aware of the health & safety of themselves and others. Student workers will be responsible for preparing lab supplies for courses and distributing supplies to each lab, as directed by the stockroom manager. Strong communication skills are a must, with the ability to communicate problems to the stockroom manager. If Federal Work Study, please apply to that posting instead.
Standard Position Description
  • The student will perform basic laboratory duties and maintain supplies and stocks/inventory.
  • Tasks may include: assisting in specific projects being completed in the lab; preparing experiments, cleaning equipment and lab space, caring for animals or plants, and assisting students.
  • Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).
Preferred Qualifications
Must have a proven history of reliability at work. Must communicate work availability and any changes to availability to the stockroom managers in a timely fashion. Customer service experience preferred. Education Requirement: General Chemistry I or equivalent is preferred.
