Job description
GreatNews.Life, publishers of Valpo.Life, Portage.Life, LaPorteCounty.Life, and NWI.Life, is seeking a full-time, in-office, contributing editor to join our team at the company's Valparaiso office. The ideal candidate for this position would be someone who holds a great deal of passion for writing, editing, and photography. Strong candidates will be outgoing and enjoy meeting new people, interviews and community interactions. This position is perfect for someone who is organized, can meet tight deadlines and is dedicated to creating strong, positive content.
Primary responsibilities- Developing content for articles, meeting deadlines, reviewing articles, editing grammar and content to ensure quality readership.
- Editing and publishing articles and events to the website.
- Updating and managing the event calendar.
- Event coverage on an as-needed basis.
- Writing and editing articles and stories that highlight aspects of the Northwest Indiana community.
- Client engagement and project management.
- Ability to address issues after business hours.
- Passionate and enthusiastic about his/her work.
- Flexibility in a role that is consistently changing, ability to work on occasional nights and weekends.
- Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing is preferred.
- Experience using content management systems.
- Exceptional news and feature writing, editing, and interviewing skills.
- Strong attention to detail/accuracy and interpersonal skills.
- Keen eye for photography.
- Superior creativity and flexibility, superior time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work quickly and independently, to establish and meet deadlines, adjust to changing demands.
